DIRECT ACCESS (DA) allows you to see a certified physical therapist immediately to start your treatment so you don't have to wait for a doctors appointment to get your script. Injured muscles and joints get stiff and weak and can develop scar tissue fast. Simply stated the sooner an injury is treated, the quicker the recovery.
Physical therapists are educated at the post-baccalaureate level and receive extensive education and clinical training in the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention of patients with functional limitations, impairments and disabilities. At Wissahickon Physical Therapy, we have 2 clinicians that are DA certified therapists. Our DA therapists are qualified to evaluate your condition and begin the much needed treatment immediately!
Common Conditions Treated under Direct Access

- Sports injuries
You may be treated for 30 days under Direct Access. If at that time improvement was not as expected, you are required to see a physician to obtain a script to continue therapy.
Direct access is not accepted under Medicare.
